Hey, Mets--NOW who's amazin'?

Sunday's Phillies game was one of the most exciting games I've ever been to.

2 Phillies 3-run homers in the first?  Check.

Ollie Perez removed from the game in the middle of pitching...to the Phillies' pitcher?  Check.

Pedro's first Phillies start against his former team?  Check.

An inside-the-park home run for the Mets in the first inning (due to the ball Pagan hit getting caught in the bottom of the outfield wall)?  Check.

Me complaining that Bruntlett was in the game instead of Utley?  Check.

Several really crazy plays?  Check.

The Phillies' Manuel getting ejected in the ninth?  Check.

An unassisted triple play by Bruntlett to end the game?  (Phillies win it, 9-7!)  Check.

Lots of "OMG WTF THIS IS AWESOME!!!!" type of cheering?  Check.

Me finally being grateful Bruntlett was in the game?  Also check.

CLIFF LEE (the hotness!) takes the mound today for the last Phillies game at Citi Field this season...let's hope he can take those pesky Mets down easily!

Friday night's Phillies/Mets game...

Well, I went to Friday night's Phillies/Mets game just to see Cole Hamels pitch.  Unfortunately, he didn't pitch very well, and the Phillies lost the game, 4-2.  Luckily, Hamels at least looked gorgeous...although he also looked rattled/stressed/not so great on the mound.  Sigh.  We need Hamels to get back on track soon...if we're headed for the playoffs again this year, we're gonna need him in top form if we want to do well in the postseason.

Luckily for me, I was sitting basically right above the Phillies dugout for this game, and even from the upper deck, I had a nice view of certain BILFalicious ballplayers...yeah, I'll admit that I kept my eye on a certain Cliff Lee for much of the game.  (In the photos, he's in the dugout, wearing a red warmup jacket.)  It was sometimes more fun (and much less depressing) to watch Lee in the dugout than to watch Hamels on the mound....

A few pictures from the Phillies/Diamondbacks game, 8/19/09

Pitchers

The top one's Lee pitching; the bottom one is Haren pitching.

I guess the Phillie Phanatic couldn't handle the hotness of Lee and Haren (plus Werth and Utley)...poor dude fell down by the Diamondbacks' dugout.  I feel your pain, Phillie Phanatic.  Those BILFs are SCORCHING hot!

Thanks to my awesome mom for taking/sharing these pictures!

If the Twins want any chance of making the playoffs...

...they've gotta get Morneau feeling better and back on the field ASAP.  Right now he's suffering from ear infection-related dizziness.  Poor guy.

Also, poor Twins.  As I write this, they're losing 9-1 to Texas.  They're in third place in the AL Central, and they don't even seem to be in the running for the wild card.  Ugh.  I really don't wanna see Detroit or the White Sox win the AL Central; the Twins are a much more awesome team.  And by that, I mean they're the hottest team in the AL..  ;)

Speaking of hot--I know I can't seem to shut up about this, but Cliff Lee is just, like, the most amazing pitcher EVER.  His numbers are phenomenal.  He doesn't appear to have an ego.  You can tell he tries his best every time he's out on the mound.  In each Phillies game he's pitched, he's earned only one run or less.  He hits, and he seems to enjoy hitting.  He adjusts his pitching style when necessary in order to get better results.  Dare I say I'm liking him even better than Hamels lately...?

This is one hot matchup...

Baseball

Two of the best and best-looking National League pitchers will be facing off at Citizens Bank Park tonight.  I'm jealous because my parents will be there in person to see Lee and the Phillies take on Haren and the Diamondbacks...I'll just be watching on my computer via MLB.com.

I'm often kind of ADD and easily distracted, but there will be a couple hours tonight where I know I will be completely focused.  On baseball, of course.  And on BILFs!

In terms of who will be victorious in tonight's game--I'm gonna go with Lee and the Phillies.  Ever since Lee's come over to the NL, he's been spectacular.  Haren is incredibly talented, but a few of his starts in the last month or so have been a little shakier than we're used to seeing from him.  My money's on Cliff Lee and the Phillies FTW!

Things that make a ballplayer NOT a BILF:

Happ-y days are here again...

Happ

I was thrilled to see that JA Happ (who is a BILF as long as he keeps his hat on) led the Phillies to snapping the Rockies' winning streak and, more importantly, snapping the Phillies' losing streak.  I've got Happ, Werth, and Utley on various fantasy teams, and I certainly can't complain about any of the numbers they put up tonight.  Strikeouts!  Runs!  A complete game! RBIs!  *squeal*

Tonight's the Phillies' first win since BILFalicious Cliff Lee pitched and won it for us on Friday night.  Thankfully, he pitches again tomorrow...hopefully he can get us another win and send those Rockies home to Colorado, swearing and sniffling all the way...  :)

He pitched so fabulous-Lee...

Lee

Told you he'd look good in his gray Phillies away uni.

And he pitched really well, too.  Not only that, but he even hit well--a huge surprise, considering he was an AL pitcher who rarely even had to hit.  And one of his hits in Friday night's game nearly went over the wall!

Ahhh, Cliff Lee...I'm really, really glad you're now a Phillie.  :)
